Haloperidol [CAS No. 52-86-8], also known by its brand name Haldol, is a phenylbutylpiperadine derivative and conventional antipsychotic. It is a dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist used to treat acute to chronic psychosis. Haloperidol can also be used to help treat Tourette syndrome tics, mania in bipolar disorder, and hallucinations caused by alcohol withdrawal.
